Providing grant funding for scholarships at the Santa Cruz Center
“You think, ‘How am I going to make it work financially?’ Getting the scholarship was a great help. It allowed me to continue my education and get clear about my path. It also motivated other students to apply for the scholarship.”
 – Yemille Quihuiz, former IME-Becas scholarship recipient
Empower Hispanic America with Technology Grant
Santa Cruz Center recently received an Empower Hispanic America with Technology (EHAT) grant from League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) to establish a Tech Center for traditional onsite and distance learning continuing education classes. New computers and monitors plus overhead projectors were added to the Santa Cruz Center computer lab as a result of the grant.

The new EHAT Tech Center bridges the digital divide in the Hispanic community and helps local residents succeed who have traditionally been restricted from subscribing to basic cable and satellite services or have restricted Internet speed, capacity and reliability.

IME-Becas Grant

IME-Becas is a program of the Government of Mexico that seeks to expand educational opportunities for Mexicans abroad and is aimed at students with low economic resources who attend basic, university, and technological education.

On October 24, 2017, the Santa Cruz Center Educational Foundation received its first IME-BECAS Grant, in partnership with the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas and the Santa Cruz County Chamber of Commerce, when matched, for a total of $26,000.00. The IME-BECAS Grant was funded by the Consulado General de Mexico en Nogales Arizona.
